“Automan 2008” beefs up autoparts and electronics parts manufacturing as manufacturers get ready to invest 1,000 million baht to improve competitiveness

Manufacturers of automotive parts and electronics parts can now improve their chances in the global markets by investing 1,000 million baht in improving and upgrading their manufacturing capability through new technologies presented in “Automotive Manufacturing 2008” the once a year exhibition of machinery used in the production of automotive parts and electronics parts.

Mr. Chainarong Limpkittisin Deputy Managing Director, Reed Tradex Company explained that the current economic situation including the strengthening baht currency may adversely affect certain industries by raising manufacturing costs making them lose their competitive edge especially with China and Vietnam among others.  Manufacturers should turn this crisis into opportunity by studying new technology, upgrade or change to higher performing machinery to improve their operating efficiency and boost their competitiveness in the market.   Manufacturers of automotive parts and electronics parts can sharpen their competitive edge by applying new technology to improve their manufacturing process.  This will also help to push Thailand towards the center of automotive industry in Asia.  We can already see the continuous expansion of production capacity every year from 2003 until today, where the export value of automobiles and parts has been growing by leaps and bounds.  This exhibition is thus the perfect opportunity to help propel Thailand to become the center of automobile production in Asia or ‘Detroit of Asia” fulfilling the earlier target.

Reed has organized the “Automotive Manufacturing 2008” Asean’s only machinery expo for automotive parts as a once a year exhibition from 19 to 22 June at BITEC in Bangna.   This expo will run concurrently with 3 other giant shows covering machinery for plastics manufacturing, for mold and die, and automation technology and machine tools.  The overall effect is to provide a comprehensive cluster satisfying all the needs of manufacturers in the region at a single site.    The expo is aimed at the SME manufacturers of automotive parts and electronic parts to offer them knowledge about new know how and technology which will enable them to catch up with large manufacturers.   The strengthening baht will become the opportunity for them to invest in capital equipment.  More than 400 leading manufacturers of machinery will be displaying their new technologies over 20,000 sq. meter space, and 45,000 visitors are expected.  This show is expected to earn more than 1,000 million baht in revenue from machinery sales.

To further facilitate manufacturers of automotive parts and electronic parts, Reed is organizing a similar Automan exhibition in Vietnam this May.  Vietnam has a newly established and growing auto assembly industry with production of 30,000 vehicles a year. We believe this show is another great opportunity for Thai parts producers to expand their business reach in Vietnam.
